Due to my Japanese ancestry, my passion for music and my organizing skills, several artists have been calling me “Marie Kondo of Production”.
My name is Tami Toledo Matuoka (Tami TM). I was born in a family of music and poetry, and I came in contact with the arts already early in my life. I remember helping my parents organize and produce cultural events, concerts, and readings (poems) since I could speak. My passion for arts (especially music) and my organizational skills were already there at a very early age.
I’m a graduate of the acclaimed University of São Paulo in Communication Management, and I have been working since 2006 professionally in the world of international music collaborations. I started my professional career as a producer at “Plataforma Brasil Holanda” (Platform Brazil-Netherlands), an organization that promotes and produces Dutch artists in Brazil. At that time, I had the opportunity to produce concerts throughout Brazil for Han Bennink, Benjamin Herman, Ernst Rijseger, Corrie van Binsbergen, Josee Koning, Martin Fondse, Mike del Ferro, Jan Akkerman, a.o.
After working for years at that organization, I decided to reallocate from São Paulo to Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I founded my own booking agency and production company Tami TM in Amsterdam, where I have been living for the past 10 years.
Currently, I am working as a producer, tour manager, PR manager, and/or mentor for a wide range of emerging and renowned musicians, such as Jasper Blom (winner Buma Boy Edgar Prijs 2019), Martin Fondse (winner Buma Boy Edgar Prijs 2017), Efraïm Trujillo/The Preacher Men (winner Edison Publieksprijs 2019), Margriet Sjoerdsma/Odelion Orchestra (winner Nederlandse Oeuvreprijs Kleinkunst en Cabaret 2018), Kika Sprangers (Young VIP 2018/young artist in residence of NJO Muziekzomer Gelderland 2020), Guy Salamon (winner of Keep an Eye ‘The Records’ 2019), Sanne Rambags (Young VIP 2019), Sun-Mi Hong (winner of the Dutch Jazz Competition 2018, 2nd Prize of the Getxo International Jazz Competition 2017, Young VIP 2019), Anna Serierse (winner of Keep an Eye ‘The Records’ 2020), New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, Joris Teepe, a.o.
I am also the booking agent, tour manager, and producer of international projects of Brazilian pop star Lenine (winner of 6 Latin Grammy) – with whom I won the acclaimed “28 Prêmio da Música Brasileira” in 2017 with the project “The Bridge”.
As the hospitality manager of ‘Better Get Hit Festival 2019’, I was responsible for coordinating the hospitality team and everything concerning transportation, catering, dressing room, merchandising, and schedule for all the artists and crew.
During the past 17 years as a professional producer and tour manager, I have produced several tours and hundreds of (small, medium, and big) concerts in more than 15 countries, including shows at SummerStage – Central Park New York and Rock in Rio (audience 100.000 pax). As a representative of artists, I’ve been to several music business fairs such as Babel Med – Marseille, France; Womex – Santiago de Compostela, Spain; Jazz Ahead – Bremen, Germany; Beirut&Beyond – Beirut, Lebanon; Fira Mediterranea – Manresa, Spain; European Jazz Conference – Lisbon, Portugal, a.o.
In March 2023, I joined the Bimhuis team as a Project Manager for Better Live, Europe Creative founded cooperation project between 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 involved in the jazz and improvised music scene. From 2023 to 2025, Better Live will be experimenting and producing 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 to reach a 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 for a 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
Throughout the past few years, I have mentored several conservatory students, recent graduates, young, and professional musicians. My mentoring work has extended beyond my private mentorship, as I have also collaborated as a mentor and expert with organizations such as Cultuur + Ondernemen, Amarte Fonds, and Keep an Eye Foundation. In addition to my mentorship roles, I work as a Professional Integration Coach for the Jazz Department at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, and I am a lecturer at Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU) and a guest teacher at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA).
